An unusual case of silent acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction following amphetamine use
We report a case of silent acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction associated with amphetamine use in a 62 years old diabetic man. The patient was devoid of chest pain and had a normal cardiac enzyme analysis at the initial presentation. A routine electrocardiogram demonstrated acute inferior wall ST-elevation myocardial infarction. Coronary angiography confirmed a total occlusion of the poste...
متن کاملKhat chewing and acute myocardial infarction.
Fresh leaves from khat trees (Catha edulis Celestrasae) are chewed daily by over 20 million people in Yemen and East African countries. Chewing khat (qat) is a popular social habit which has spread to Yemeni, Somali or East African communities in the USA and UK. The pleasure derived from khat chewing is attributed to the euphoric actions of S-(−)cathinone, a sympathomimetic amine with propertie...
متن کاملPrediction of long-term cardiac events by 123I-MIBG imaging after acute myocardial infarction and reperfusion therapy
Objective(s): In heart failure, the heart-to-mediastinum (H/M) ratio of the delayed image and washout rate (WR) are well-known as a powerful cardiac event predictors. H/M ratio quantifies the accumulation rate of MIBG in the myocardium and WR quantifies reduction of meta-iodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) accumulation in the heart from the early planar image to the delayed pla...
